DECOY was started by Sophia Smolenski, who as always just wants to make cool things with cool people - with the aim not to kick our doomed planet while it’s already down, and not exploit anyone in the process.

Is this an ethical clothing brand?

To make ethically under capitalism is a contradiction few can escape. 

But we want to begin by naming that impossibility, and work in a way that genuinely considers people and planet at each stage. 

There is no illusion of ethical perfection, nor is there lost hope. Instead the aim is to make things to be treasured and refuse to treat clothing as disposable.
Where are cool DECOY things made?

All DECOY pieces are produced on a digital knitting machine, in a portable cabin I built in my driveway, in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Once an item is complete on the machine it is brought into my living room to be finished, steamed and packed.

Currently all DECOY pieces are made out of merino sourced from Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand, and then milled in China. The aim is to one day make all DECOY products out of wool sourced AND milled in Aotearoa/New Zealand, unfortunately DECOY isn't working at a scale to meet the minimum orders required by our onshore mill. But hopefully with your support one day we will!
Why merino?

Merino is known for its softness, temperature regulation and odour resistance. This particular merino we are using is spun out of a long fibre and is of a very high quality. This makes it exceptionally soft and non-irritating/itchy (for those of us who can't stand that nonsense).
Take backsies?

We are a tiny team (arguably 1.2 people), so we will not accept returned items unless we have made an error.

AOTEAROA/NZ - $14 (2 - 3 working days)

AUSTRALIA - $35 (3 - 10 working days)

REST OF THE WORLD - $50-$70 (8 - 14 working days)

Every country has different customs laws and your purchase may incur other charges whilst in transit. DECOY is NOT responsible for customs charges.

How do I care for my cool new DECOY piece?

If you have to wash it, cold hand wash, rinse well and dry flat.

DO NOT wash with hot water, bleach or tumble dry.

Each scarf comes in a custom box, this can be a good place to store your scarf when you may not be wearing it for long periods of time.

It also pays to be careful if wearing anything with velcro... it can be a messy business.
